John Wellbeloved (1862-1922)

John, aka John R Wellbeloved, a carpenter & joiner by trade, is most notable as progenitor of the modern day Wellbeloved family in America.

Life Events

1862: 11 Sep - born in South Hornsey1, Middlesex, England, to Thomas Wellbeloved, a Licensed Victualler and Harriett Foskett. He was one of eleven children.

1864: 12 Feb - together with younger brother Sidney Foskett Wellbeloved he is christened at West Hackney, aka St James, Church, Middlesex. The church was destroyed in a bombing raid during WWII.

1871: Living with his parents and siblings at Hanbury Arms, Islington, Middlesex.

1881: An apprentice joiner, he is staying with his widowed aunt Emma Foskett at Hertingfordbury Road, Hertford, Hertfordshire.

1883: 22 Nov - Sails from Liverpool for Canada on the SS Circassian, arriving Halifax, Nova Scotia, on 3 Dec.

1887: 24 Oct - Marries Frances 'Fanny' Jane Scott (1866-1931) in Toronto, Ontario.

1889: 10 Aug - Birth of son Sidney George Lee Wellbeloved in Toronto.

1891: Living with family in York (East), Ontario.

1893: 26 Oct - Birth of daughter Hazel E Wellbeloved in Buffalo, New York.

1901: Living with family in Toronto.

1902: Birth of son John Arthur Wellbeloved in Fort Erie, Welland, Ontario.

1910: Living in Erie, New York. Family recorded on census using alias 'Wellby'

1920: Living in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan with wife Frances & youngest son John.

1922: 15 Oct - Dies in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
